Haslams Estate Agents - London to Brighton

Haslam - Steve Woodford

After signing up as an Ambassador of the Estate Agency Foundation earlier this year, the team at Haslams Estate Agents in Reading is committed to finding ways to help raise funds to support the work of the EAF. And what better way to start than at the top, as Managing Director, Steve Woodford, has pledged to take on the mighty challenge of completing the London to Brighton Bike Ride to get the sponsorship ball rolling.

Starting early in the morning on the 17th June 2012, Steve will be cycling the 54 mile route from the capital down to the coast, with the hope of finishing in one piece and raising lots of money for this very important cause.

"As part of Haslams' corporate social responsibility charter, we are very keen to support the work of the EAF in helping to eliminate the causes of homelessness. To encourage my team to take on personal and group challenges themselves, I decided to lead by example, setting myself a test that will push me both physically and mentally. I am spending much of my spare time training along Berkshire's country roads, and I am determined to complete the ride in the best possible time."

Winners of Top Coffee Morning Fundraiser 2011

Andrews Coffee Fundraisers

Over the Christmas period, the team at the popular branch located on Badminton Road, Downend, hosted a range of fundraising events, including face painting, fancy dress and cake sales - and in the process raised over £1,100 in just a few short days for the EAF, thanks to the generosity of Andrews' customers and contractors.

This is the second year in a row that the branch has been the biggest single fundraiser for the EAF.

Michael Robson said "This really is a terrific accomplishment - a big well done to the team here at Downend, as well as all of our branches, who really got behind the fundraising and helped up to make a big difference over the Christmas period."

Paramount Properties – Sponsored Sky Dive
How many people would pay to see Estate Agents jump out of a plane?

Your Move Presentation

12 of the team from the West Hampstead office will be visiting the North London Skydiving Centre on the 17th June 2012 and will be jumping from 13,000 feet! Many of them have never attempted this before and are very excited to be involved in this charity event and take on the challenge all in aid of the EAF.

Here are quotes from the team as they prepare for the biggest challenge of their lives:

Spencer Lawrence “I approach the 17th June with trepidation as I suffer from a fear of heights this coupled with the notion of jumping out of a plane should be enough for our clients and customers to donate generously to this very worthy cause.”

Mark Durban “I am doing it as a thrill seeking opportunity that I have always wanted to do but needed a “kick start” to do it. I also want to raise money for a worthwhile cause”

Danielle Davey “I want to do it because over Christmas I saw many homeless people and realised how unbelievable it is that in a first world country people are still stuck outside in the cold winter months with no food, warmth or shelter, and the charity we will support help people in these circumstances to have a better quality of life.”

David Warren “It is a great to support some really worth while charities and with the added bonus of being able to do something I have always wanted to do. So when the opportunity came I jumped at it.”

Oliver Lewis “In today’s world homelessness is a huge problem and I feel that helping is very important. I want to raise as much money as possible to give these people all the necessary essentials that we should all have in life.”

Ashley Afshari-Mehr “I fear nothing in life… Except, planes, heights and dying.  So I honestly can’t tell you why I’m doing this!  I guess it’s about looking at the bigger picture… Being courageous in the face of fear, about knowing that courage doesn’t mean not being fearful but rather an awareness that something is more important than fear itself.”

Robert Lazarus “I have fancied doing this for a while and can’t wait for the adrenaline rush from 13,000 feet and what’s more beneficial is the worthwhile charity we are donating to. Looking forward to the day!”

Anthony Shaw “I’m participating in the sky dive as I’d like to take this opportunity to help a worthy charity raise funds. I will be collecting as much as possible to donate. I’d also like to take from this a once in a life time opportunity. Sky Diving is something that I have never done before and is something I would relish.”

Nick Christoforou “I feel the skydive is a great team building opportunity for Paramount. It will also enhance integration between departments and my relations with co-workers. Of course, on top on this all funds raised are going to a great cause, The Estate Agency Foundation.”

Peter helps Linley & Simpson gear up for new charity partnership

Linley & Simpson

A familiar face to Linley & Simpson clients has proved "the wheel deal" by kick-starting a new charity link-up.

Peter Graham (pictured right), a lettings negotiator who has worked across the company's eight-branch Yorkshire network, pedal powered his way to Scarborough as part of an 85-mile bike ride from Leeds.
In doing so, he raised £200 for the Estate Agency Foundation (EAF) - a sum matched by Linley & Simpson as it unveiled the EAF as its adopted company charity.

Director Will Linley said: "The charity brings together companies working within the letting and sales sectors with the aim of eradicating the causes of homelessness.

"We have no shortage of staff who want to fund-raise for good causes close to their hearts and we have pledged to match Pound for Pound any money that they choose to raise for the EAF.

"This is the first time we have nominated a charity for the company to support and, in doing so, are delighted that we are making a contribution to solving a major issue that faces al the communities in the UK."

The EAF distributes fund-raising income between 12 charities that are committed to helping the homeless, including Barnardos, Shelter, The Salvation Army and Help for Heroes.

Saddle-sore Peter, aged 53, who currently works out of the Roundhay office and lives in North Leeds, was joined on his charity bike ride by friend Andy Pattison, who was raising money for the CLIC Sargent Appeal, helping children and young people with cancer.

They set off from The Three Hulats pub in Chapel Allerton at 9am and after following the most picturesque of back routes pedalled into Scarborough at 5pm.

Challenge Scotland – Please help Mike and Maria raise funds for the EAF and Help for Heroes.
You can still donate towards these two great causes by following the just giving links below:

From 18th to 26th May The Property Ombudsman will be physically represented in Scotland by two of his Case Officers, Mike and Maria Evans, who will be venturing north of Hadrian’s Wall. The couple will not be concentrating on the TPO Code of Practice during their visit but rather tarmac and two wheels as they meet the challenge of cycling, on a tandem, the 463 miles of the Scottish National Cycle Route starting at Carlisle and finishing at Inverness in aid of the Estate Agency Foundation charity and Help for Heroes.

The two are no strangers to physical challenges of this type having completed a number of gruelling charity events. The duo will be self supporting and have no backup team which will necessitate them carrying all of their own kit and spares so would welcome any support along the way whether it is in the form of encouragement, cups of tea, a carbohydrate fix or donations for the charities.
